We provide support to children & families to improve their experience of CHD

Story

After starting cycling last year I have signed up with a bunch of friends to take on the coast to coast bike ride. Most normal people do this over 2 or 3 days. However we are embarking on finishing it in 1 day!!! 148 Miles and 4500 metres of ascent!! Or as I call it pain. We are riding for a brilliant charity KEEP THE BEAT. KEEPTHEBEAT is a charity established to provide hope and support to the families affected by congenital heart defects (CHD).  The charity will have a particular interest in Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, but over time hopes to develop and cover all CHD’s.  Local hospital, Glenfield, receive a lot of support from the charity who are world leaders in this field. The inspiration for KEEPTHEBEAT came following Albert Ellis Tansey being diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome at four days old in August 2009.  Many will have seen him on the national news last year when he took part in his own, very special, Ice Bucket Challenge.  He received a new heart last year and continues to make good progress.  A group of us, including Albert’s Dad, Adam, and former Leicester, England and British Lions Rugby International, Graham Rowntree, will be embarking on this epic challenge to raise money and awareness for this fantastic, local charity. I sincerely hope you will sponsor me. This is the biggest challenge I have ever embarked upon and one I know will be amazing to be part of.
