The idea for this challenge developed from a late evening discussion after a long day at a BBQ. Back then it was a matter of 5 men in rowing boat with a flask of tea and a packet of sandwiches rowing around Singapore. A year on and it’s a huge charity event with the aim of raising GBP375k for the Mission to Seafarers.
The 40rowers involved have bought two replica 19th Century Cornish Pilot Boats and on April 22nd we will row them the 140km around the island, taking on the seas and shipping lanes (not to mention two live military firing ranges) to complete a non-stop circumnavigation of the island of Singapore. We expect it to take 24hrs during Singapore Maritime Week and coinciding with the 50th anniversary year of Singapore’s independence.
In preparation for the event all of the rowers are rowing at weekends in addition to the usual mid-week running, boot camps and ergo sessions. Please help with the fund raising and make a small donation on my ‘just giving’ page - all contributions will go directly to the ‘Mission to Seafarers’.
