On 24th July 2015 I will be joining a great group of  people on a 180 mile cycle starting from outside New Scotland Yard, London and riding to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

I am doing this to raise money and awareness for the charity UK. COPS, (Care Of Police Survivors)

UK COPS are an amazing group of people, the majority of which have lost someone close to them who was a serving police officer and lost their life whilst carrying out their duty.

They give up their own time to help the families of those fallen officers and arrange events for the families so that they can meet and share their grief and so understand that they are not alone and that they have the support of people who have experienced a similar loss. They do a huge amount for the children of these officers by helping them to obtain any help they may need to assist them deal with their loss.

The ride will take place over 3 days, the majority of the distance being covered over the first two days culminating in a ten mile final cycle on the morning of Sunday 26th July where we will meet other groups from around the UK and will all ride to the Arboretum together. There will then be a memorial service where we will pay our respects and lay wreaths in honour of the officers. The cyclists will then get to meet the families and I can tell you from previous experience that this is a truely humbling and emotional experience.
