JOHNNY BALL RUNS THE LONDON MARATHON (and 3 weeks later the Windermere Marathon....)
Having hung up my rugby boots at age 22 and spending 16 weeks on crutches after knee surgery, running a marathon seemed impossible.
Move forward two years and with training in full swing, the legs are feeling good and running has become an important part of my life.
But this isn't my personal sob story, the real reason for running the London Marathon is to raise huge amounts of money for Afghanaid (see opposite).
The charity is committed to working in rural areas of Afghanistan to alleviate poverty, empower communities and grow sustainable businesses in order for individuals to change their own lives.
Please use the link opposite to read more about Afghanaid's work, its truly inspirational and provides me with more than enough motivation to run the marathon.
So.....apart from a run around London, the rest is up to you guys. As you can see on the right I've set a big target, for the one reason that I want this to make a difference, and it will. The money you give will directly influence the lives of people living in marginalised areas of Afghanistan. So, if you feel inspired please please donate!
If you can give some money that is brilliant, you're a star. If not, please share my page on your email/facebook etc.
Thank you, your help is appreciated!
