Walk for M.E is a national initiative to raise money and awareness for Invest in ME (ME Research). Many different groups of people are setting up their own walks across the country.

I have Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and I am currently bed bound and house bound. I need 24hr care, and though thankfully I've been stable for a year now, my condition has been life threatening in the past and I spent much of 2013 hospitalised. 

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E) is a neurological illness and has varying degrees of severity. Approximately 25% of M.E sufferers are Severe, with many wheelchair bound, housebound or bed bound. You can develop many complications with Severe ME and many sufferers even need feeding tubes, catheters and sometimes stomas. M.E affects people's lives at whatever degree of severity they suffer from, and they often need support from family or social services to manage daily living. 

We are hoping this walk will raise awareness of M.E, helping people to recognise it for the disabling illness that it is. My wonderful carer Maria, had the idea of doing a Walk for M.E and I think it's a great idea! I'm only sorry I can't take part in it, but I'm so touched and pleased that so many want to do this on my behalf and raise money that will enable much needed research into both causes and treatments of M.E.

I think I can speak for everyone participating in this walk, when I say we are also doing this in memory of the many people who have already lost their battles and their lives to this illness. We will remember them, and we will fight to ensure that others do not suffer in the same way they did.
