We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

So this will be my Third UK Forums Allstars tournament, having previously represented Dreams Come True for 2 consecutive years. I felt like it was time for a change and this year I am proud to be representing Prostate Cancer UK in 2015.

Last year, I scored the goal that put PCUK out of the tournament, albeit with a huge amount of help from the goalie and the referees!! I owe them a goal, so thought I would try this year.

I am quite possibly the WORST skater at the event, I cant stop on my skates, I've got a job to stay upright, and my lack of stick handling is astounding!

Next year, I will be just stood in front of the net and have pucks shot at me, seems much more fun!!!

Prostate cancer mainly affects men over the age of 50 and your risk increases with age. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 70 and 74 years. If you are under 50 then your risk of getting prostate cancer is very low. Younger men can be affected, but this is rare.

In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer at some point in their lives. Older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer and Black men are more at risk.

That’s why PCUK have invested millions of pounds into research, services and awareness over the last 10 years. It’s the reason they provide services to men and their families like our Specialist Nurses, one-to-one support and information leaflets. It’s why they are leading the way in providing prostate education to medical professionals. It’s why PCUK don’t take no for an answer when it comes to fighting our campaigns.

My donations last year were poor, I found it very difficult last year so this year I offer an incentive.. If I get my target of £150 from donations alone, I will add a further £50 out of my own pocket

I want a large total this year to send to PCUK, so whether its £10 or £1, it all helps.

Thanks for reading and HAPPY HOCKEY DAYS!
