Story
Our
first official North Wales Coast Cycle Challenge was held on Saturday 21st June
2014. We had a total of 26 riders taking part on this fundraising ride from
Deeside Leisure Centre to Porth Eirias, and the return journey (a total of 72
miles).
The day was beautiful and sunny, and we were honoured that the chairman of
Flintshire County Council, Mrs Glenys Diskin, was able to attend and officially
open the ride.
The riders all left with much enthusiasm, and the first two arrived in Porth
Eirias in 2:29 hours, with others arriving at intervals after.
After a well earned break and a quick bite to eat, the riders returned to
Deeside Leisure Centre to receive their medals.
We are still being supported by IPM Russell Limited, who, when all monies
have come in, will fund match what has been raised. We are truly grateful for
their support which is amazing.
Bryon Jones, of Deeside Leisure Centre, played a major part in this ride,
with his support and dedication we are pleased the final amount is more than
the ride he organized last year. This year, we had our regional representative
Claire Horrex attending for support.
We’d like to thank the Toning Suite at Deeside Leisure Centre for fundraising
for this event…more information and photographs to follow shortly.
The ride was kindly supported by Radio Deeside (www.radiodeeside.com) – special thanks
to Barry Dougdale and Loose Lady Lynne for entertaining everyone!
