Story
On September 14th, Callum and his Nanny Dia will be walking the 5k Forget-me-not walk in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
On September 1st 2009, Callum was diagnosed with
ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia)
· There are almost 300 children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia each year in the UK.
· There are slightly more boys than girls affected by ALL.
· The most common age at which children are affected by ALL is between two and four years old.
Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research are currently investing £12 million into leading UK research to further improve treatments for children with blood cancer and ultimately to find a cure.
Callum’s treatment was for 3 years, and I can happily say, it is nearly two years now since he finished.
Callum is now 7 years old and doing all the things he should be doing at this age, enjoying his swimming lessons and his school, which he was very deprived off when going through his treatment.
This is the fourth year; I have taken part in this walk and Callum will be walking with me this year, not only to raise money, but also to raise awareness of this horrible disease which affects many children a year.
Without the Leukaemia Research, our children would have no chance today that is why it is vital to raise money.
Now nine in ten children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer, are being cured; a remarkable turnaround for a previously untreatable disease.
So My dear friends family and colleagues I ask you to please donate as little as you can, because every pound that we raise Russell IPM will Match, and I can assure you the money will go direct to the Research.
Thank you in advance
Love Nanny Dia and Callum xx
