Story

Charity Bingo is unique in that we give away some of our profits to charity each month, and every month we choose a new charity, in order to benefit as many causes as possible.

For the month of August, we have chosen another hospice, following on from our fund-raising efforts for Rennie Grove Hospice in July. Indeed, for August, we have set a target of £500 for the Hospice of St Francis, which, here at Charity Bingo, we believe to be a very worthwhile cause to raise money for.

The Hospice of St Francis is a charity that provides professional support and care for people with life shortening illness. They provide peace, comfort and dignity to people suffering from terminal illnesses, and help them live life to the full, for however much time they have left.

They provide care tailored to each patient's individual needs and work closely with them to support their choices. Care is given either at the Hospice or in the patient's home. The team at St Francis also provide outreach care in local hospitals and nursing homes. Support of families and carers is an essential part of their care service.

The Hospice of St Francis is a registered charity and it receives around 20% of its funding from the NHS. However, they rely on the generosity of the local community to fund the remaining 80% of their costs, which is why we have chosen this charity as our charity in August.

So come join us this month at Charity Bingo, and help us smash our target of £500!

About the charity

The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Our care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. We rely on donations to raise the £5m we need each year to fund our free care.
