Story
In desperate need of an incentive to get fit, I signed up to ride a 99 miles stage in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain with the Vodafone Foundation, and will be raising funds for the Moyo Lesotho Challenge.
Moyo Lesotho is about using mobile technology to change lives, by getting a generation of children living with HIV onto treatment. There are 41,000 HIV positive children in Lesotho, but only 5,000 of them currently receive treatment. By using mobile technology, more children will receive life-saving treatment far faster. The funds we raise will also be used to provide save deliveries for mothers, preventing maternal death and the transmission of HIV from mothers to babies.
Any donation helps and here are some examples of what this means in practice:
- With £20 - we can pay transport via mobile money so children and expectant mothers can travel to the clinics to receive treatment
- With £50 - we can pay for a mobile enabled paediatric HIV test including the transport of the blood sample.
I am still in desperate need to get fit and need to start training! Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Barbara
