Following Team Lolly's triumphant London to Paris ride last year it has spurred me on to get out on my bike and take on the challenge this year myself.  This is a personal physical challenge and something I never thought I could do (hopefully can do!).  

Last year Lauren's mummy (my sister Helen) started the Fabulous 40 fundraising event to celebrate her 40th birthday.  In her birthday year she raised an incredible £38,000 and is very close to achieving £40,000.  My ride is one of the last events for the Fabulous 40 team in 2014 so I am hoping to get her to her target or beyond.

Rett Syndrome arrived into our lives when my little niece, Lauren, was diagnosed with this horrible condition five years ago.

In the past 18 months research for the disease has seen incredible steps forward, providing the potential to finally give families the news they are desperately waiting to hear - that they have a choice to be able to help their daughters be better, that they have some treatments and ultimately a cure.

The thought that one day Lauren might be able to communicate with us and have a 'normal' life spurs us on to keep fundraising to get that cure.

My cycle ride is certainly going to be a challenge but it's nothing like the challenge Lauren and the other Rett girls face on a daily basis.
