Story

On the 7th June about 20 of us from Wyevale Nurseries are hoping to complete the Mortimer Trail,  a 30 mile sponsored walk, to raise money for the children’s charity 'Greenfingers'.   Greenfingers is dedicated to creating gardens at children’s hospices nationwide. We hope to raise over £1000.

The trek starts at Ludlow Castle, Shropshire and ends (we hope!) at Kington, Herefordshire. 30 miles (48km, which is nearly 50 & that’s a lot!), a maximum ascent of 1,400ft, a total ascent of 3,700ft (higher than Snowdon!) & we will be walking for around 15 hours (& apparently no pub stops??!).

Greenfingers does fantastic work, launched in November 1998 by a group of volunteers drawn from all sectors of the gardening industry. The aim of the charity is to create beautiful gardens within the grounds of British children’s hospices, the charity makes spaces for the whole family, so they can have fun, play and laugh away from the bedside, as well as having the space to rest, reflect and remember. To date, Greenfingers has created 42 gardens.

About the charity

Greenfingers is committed to supporting children and families through the creation of magical gardens at children's hospices throughout the UK. All the Greenfingers’ gardens are unique and are created to help make life a little better for children and families in hospices.
