Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Brooke is a happy 8 year old who has a dream to walk & with our help she will get there.

Hi, Brooke was born in 2005, a gorgeous happy little girl. When brooke was 2 she was diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy & was told she would never walk, this shook the family's world & they were totally devastated but she was their little girl & were prepared to do whatever it took to give her the best & most comfortable life as they possibly could. As she got older she started understanding her condition, they had to pick her up every time she got down & she was in daily pain which was just heartbreaking. In 2010 the parents found out about a pioneering operation in the USA which possibly could give brooke a chance to walk but this would cost Brooke's family in excess of £75k & most importantly they would also have to fund rehab for the foreseeable future. After extensive research they applied for the operation jan 2012 & started climbing the mountain of fundraising & launched Brooke's Wish To Walk in Feb 14th 2012, shortly after they started fundraising Brooke got accepted for surgery & was given the date of Nov 15th 2012, The family were shocked that it was so soon but determined to do this for their baby. Every weekend they had 2/3 events organised, they had the Ipswich Star following them & donations flooding in & AXA ipswich have even named their building after brooke "The Brooke Lawrance House". By november they had raised £70k & Town102 donated their last £5k & Brooke had her operation 15th Nov 2012 & spent her 7th birthday in the hospital (19th November) she then had 3 weeks of intense physio as an out patient.

Brooke had the Ipswich Star, Town102 & BBC Radio Suffolk follow her back on her 1st day into school in Jan 2013 as she walked with a walker for the 1st time EVER!!

For the foreseeable future brooke needs intense physio 3 times a week which costs & the family will continue to fundraise for as long as it takes for Brooke to realise her dream to walk but can only do this with continued support from local business & the local community.
