Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My nephew, Freddie Patrick Harrison, was born on October 16th 2013, a whole 3 months premature, weighing just 2lb 10oz. It was a challenging time for the whole family but especially trying for his amazing parents Josie and Mark. It was not an easy journey but Freddie made it home on January 17th 2014, his original due date. He is now doing really well and showing the traits of a true heartbreaker already!
I wanted to do something to raise money for the wonderful work that they do at the Liverpool Women's Hospital, without which Freddie wouldn't be here. As most of you are aware I'm a renowned party girl that likes a drink and a late night and I could think of nothing more challenging to do than getting fit and leaving that lifestyle behind. I originally signed up to do the Manchester 10K on May 18th and joined a beginners running club in Warrington to keep me motivated. I have now joined a second club and have well and truly been bitten by the running bug! A half marathon sign up followed in quick succession (Liverpool Rock 'N' Roll 25th May) along with a mad, possible stupid, decision to enter the Chester Marathon on October 5th.
What most of you won't be aware of is that I have suffered from an eating disorder since I was 15 so have been battling against it for over half my life. It has at times been debilitating and has caused much pain and suffering to both myself and those closest to me. By getting fit and setting myself goals I am starting to view food in a different way and am slowly getting better. The secondary goal I have set myself is to have finally beaten this by the time I pull on my running shoes for the marathon in October. In a way without Freddie I'm not sure that I ever would have pushed myself to change, so I want to thank those that saved him as he is currently saving me.
The work they do in the Liverpool Women's hospital is fantastic and every single penny raised is put to good use. I hope that I will never have to use the facilities myself but know if I did I would have complete confidence in them.
