We fund education for African children to help them break the poverty cycle

Story

At 11am on 20th Sept 2014 our team of 6 regular Glasto goers will be scaling the heights of the Pyramid Stage, and then free abseiling from the roof - and if that doesn't seem crazy enough, we are going to be doing it dressed as the legendary rock band Queen!!!

Why are we doing this??  Well, we've been asking ourselves that very same question every since we signed up for the challenge.  The reasons are two-fold, firstly why the hell not?  It's not often the opportunity to do something like this comes along, and having spent many a happy hour in front of the Pyramid Stage, with our combined musical talents (or lack thereof..) this is our one and only chance to "perform" on it!  But, more seriously, we are doing this to support the charity SOS Africa by pledging to raise at least £1000 for this amazing charity which focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty in Africa through the education of future generations.  SOS Africa is a small charity, but the work they do is invaluable, investing time and resources in African children today, to ensure their future tomorrow.

So on 20th Sept the "Fat Bottomed Girls" team comprising of Claire Greenhalgh, Sarah Young, Catherine de Jong, Joanna Longbottom, Annemieke de Jong (age 11) and Heather Longbottom (age 9) will be nervously ascending our way up the pyramid stage structure decked out in a mix of canary yellow leather jackets, fake moustaches, comedy over-bite teeth and long curly wigs.....  we would really appreciate your support in this venture, both through donations, and any tips you can give on "how to play air guitar whilst abseiling"

Then the next time we all find ourselves ankle-deep in mud rocking out to the Saturday night headliner, we will be able to look up at the Pyramid Stage with a little smile and remember the day we conqured our fears in aid of a great cause :)

Thanks, The FBG's xx
