Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As some of you will know, my nephew, Freddie Harrison, was born on the 16th October 2013, three months prematurely, weighing only 2lb 10oz. Despite such a troubling start to life, Freddie came home on the 17th January 2014 and is now happily settled at home and making good progress.

Steph's son, William, was born a healthy 5lbs 11oz (twin 2). At 3 days old he took critically ill and was cared for in the neo-natal unit. He is now a happy, fun loving 3 year old thanks to the expert care received in the troubling early days.

However, these homecomings would not have been possible if it were not for the immediate care and support that Freddie, William and their families received at the Liverpool Women’s hospital. In light of this, we (Catherine, Steph, Becki and Lisa) decided to take up the challenge of running in the BUPA 10k on May 18th.

Those closest to us will know and understand how challenging we have each found training for this event (I am by no means a natural runner!). We could not have completed this journey on our own, so we have supported each other through motivation and encouragment – we have become a determined group of ‘runners’ who will hopefully make it round the 10k as ‘Team Freddie and Billy!'

Our aim is to raise funds to support the nurses and doctors at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, so that they can maintain the great work they do supporting the new-borns and their families. Every penny counts, and we would be very grateful if you could share a few with these fabulous people.

Team Freddie and Billy!
