Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'm running in St George's School Great Curry Run 2014, an annual so-called fun run, to fund-raise for ABF The Soldiers Charity. Along with 479 other hardy souls (or in my case, clearly, stupid!) I'm running on the 26th April and this is drawing ever nearer!

There are 4km, 10km and 24km distances and I've opted for the middle distance. It's sad but worthwhile to note that this middle distance equates to approximately 10m for every soldier killed in Afghanistan.

All of those running have the privilege to be doing so in the name of a fallen soldier and I'm running in honour of Colour Sgt Martyn Simon Horton, 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment. He was killed in a vehicle accident with three other soldiers in Nahr-e Saraj, Gereshk on 23/06/2010. Of course we remember the fallen but The Soldiers Charity is there to support those who are left behind and Colour Sgt Horton left behind a wife and a son in Runcorn, Cheshire. He was only 34 which is no age at all.....

You can read a little more about Colour Sgt Horton and what others thought of him at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10629358 and http://fallenheroes.org.uk/2010/colour-sergeant-martyn-horton/

If you could sponsor me, even if only for a little, it might just make the pain of this run a little more bearable. Ok, well, it probably won't but I'd very grateful anyway!

The Great Curry Run 2014 has a page too, and I'd invite you to visit it to check out my route https://www.justgiving.com/teams/greatcurryrun2014

Many thanks!!
