Story
Donald and Chris from Premex will be leading the “Ventoux
Ten” on an epic cycle challenge at the end of June, as they tackle one of
France’s most gruelling mountains, Mont Ventoux. They will be
joined by eight brave clients who all hail from the legal and insurance sectors
and are all in hard training trying to prepare for what will be an
extremely tough challenge.
Not accustomed to life on two wheels Donald is a newcomer to the sport and only
bought a bike in January! However, in order to get enough miles under his belt
(or saddle), Donald’s beloved golf has been relegated to second place and he
has not been seen at Alwoodley for months!
Chris has always been a fitness fanatic but admits that cycling is the only
sport he has done where every muscle and thought is willing him to stop.
Chris is taking the trip very seriously and (unlike anyone else on the trip!)
is even planning his holidays around bikes - with a recent training trip to
Majorca and a jaunt to see the Tour of California to be inspired by Sir Bradley
Wiggins.
The 132km route includes a brutal 22km non stop climb to the summit of Mt
Ventoux, with the chosen route being the tough one from the “Bedoin” side of
the mountain – this route exposes the riders to the full glare of the sun and
famous ‘Mistral’ winds in what is a barren, moonlike environment.
