Story
We cannot comprehend the incredible service and sacrifice that these soldiers are making – many of them making that ultimate sacrifice. It is to keep us safe and unaware of the perils that, but for their efforts, could have already befallen us.
I have huge admiration for everything they are doing for our country.
Each evening, I see this gentleman who lives on my area taking his dog for a walk. He goes along with all the decorum and the bearing fitting for a man at arms. Most of the time, he wears full length trousers however, on a hot day, he wears shorts and then you see his false leg. He was blown up by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) back in 2008. He never asks for favours, he only offers to help. He doesn’t mention what happened, he doesn’t want any sympathy, he doesn’t want to make a fuss. This run is my way of making a small tribute to him and those superb, brave heroes like him.
Every penny raised will help a little perhaps to allieviate the burden that those injured have quietly and permanently placed on themselves. It will also go to assist families and loved ones left behind of those who have died all in order that we can continue to enjoy our freedom.
Please, give whatever you can to help those who have given us so very much.
