This year I decided I really needed a challenge and thought it would be a great way to also support the British Heart Foundation who fund life saving research and work, which will no doubt touch each of us at some point in our lives.

Being type 1 diabetic myself, people do not often realise the other health complications associated- a major one being cardio vascular disease with recent statistics showing that diabetics are 4 times more likely to develop CVD than non diabetics.

Having struggled to come to terms with diabetes since being diagnosed at a young age, this challenge is a way of proving to myself that I can be in control of my health and take part in events whilst controlling my diabetes and supporting a cause close to my heart.
