Story
I don't actually know where to start this story really, so I will keep it short.....Cancer has affected my family and friends in so many ways over the years that I find it impossible to pass up a challenge that will help raise money to heighten awareness and also contribute in whatever way to more treatments being available to fight against this disease.
SO....a few years ago, I crossed South Central America on two wheels for Macmillan and this year, it seems, I will be crossing some Scottish Mountains for Cancer Research! On Easter weekend a group of nutters, who I don't actually know very well will be embarking on a challenge to scale the West Highland Way (all 96 miles worth) by either bike or foot, then add in an additional whack of 55 miles to get back to some bowling club in Broxburn to collapse in a heap.....of glory of course!
It is going to be rather epic I think! If you do not know the West Highland Way then let me assure you that on a bike this will prove tricky to say the least, large parts of the route are unrideable, parts are extremely steep and knarly, it's dammed long and throw in my riding partner who only started cycling at beginning of the year (Donna Mackey, I salute you!), I can say that it will be the biggest challenge so far! Oh and it's Easter Weekend, so we will be dodging falling eggs, dog walkers, family strollers and most probably terrible weather too!
So, please, if you have anything to spare in these tight times, please dig out a couple of quid to help make it even more worthwhile! The person who donates the most gets to keep my smelly challenge padded shorts.....you need no more motivation that that to donate now do you?!
