Story

In June 2014, 54 ambitious travellers and myself will be embarking on a challenging bike ride from the Parkinson steps outside Leeds uni to the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin!

The first part of the ride will take us across Yorkshire towards Hull. The peloton will have to negotiate some steep climbs where no doubt the group will become disjointed (it is at this point the King of the Mountains jersey will be decided). Upon our arrival in the picturesque fishing port of Hull we will embark on the overnight ferry to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Once we're in The Netherlands it’s two days cycling across the country until we reach the boarder with Germany. It is believed our travels through The Netherlands will be the scene of most of the sprints, both ending at our campsites for the evening.

After successfully negotiating border control we'll be cycling straight across to Berlin, unfortunately my storytelling at this point is somewhat mediocre as I am currently unsure of our exact itinerary.

Anyway, after 8 days in the saddle the now somewhat jaded we should arrive on the outskirts of Berlin. I am in no doubt that this stage will be more of a procession towards to Brandenburg Gate, although I have reason to believe there will be a couple of riders looking to gain the prestigious allocate of ‘first under the gate wins’.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, any donation how big or small will be hugely appreciated by not only myself but also charity workers, carers, researchers and also the children and young adults who receive the support the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust offers!
