Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
In November last year dad was rushed into hospital with 14% kidney function. This was a shock in itself as he had always been a fit and health person. The next shock was the diagnosis of myeloma that came, no one knew what it was until it was explained it was a form of cancer that at the moment there is no cure.
Dad was one the lucky ones in that they discovered it early and even then he ended up with fractured spine and near kidney failure. Average life expectancy is between one and five years. Once I found this out I was inspired to challenge myself to raise money for myeloma uk so initial diagnosis and treatment can improve and eventually lead to a cure.
I am attempting to complete 2014km by the end of the year through a variety of sports, So far I have done walking, running and swimming and planning on canoeing and climbing. Any suggestions for other sports are welcome.
I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far it has been much appreciated and hopefully other people will donate as together we can beat this disease which sneaks up on fit and healthy people and find the reason why.
