We 're working to bring treatments for Rett Syndrome home

Story

My name is William and I am 5 years old.  My Sister, Lauren is 6 years old and she has Rett Syndrome.

Rett Syndrome means that Lauren isn't able to do all the things I love to do and that sometimes makes me sad and sometimes frustrated.  Lauren sits in a wheelchair as she isn't able to stand or walk or her own, so she isn't able to run around and play with me.  I'd love to be able to talk with her too, she does try but she can't use proper words like me - sometimes I can understand her but sometimes I can't and that makes her upset as she can't say what she wants to or let us know what she wants.  We do have fun though and I can make her smile a lot.

This year lots of our friends are trying to help Lauren to get better and I want to help her too.  On Sunday 15th September I am going to do a balloon race and you can buy a balloon for £2.  Each balloon will have a tag with a number on it and the winner of the race will be the person whose balloon is reported to travel the furthest.  Mummy will let the winner know and it will be posted on to her Fabulous 40 - Fighting to Reverse Rett Facebook page....whatever that means.  The winner will receive a cheque for £40 which has been kindly donated.

If you buy a balloon please email Mummy and let her know - helen@reverserett.org.uk.  She will let you know your balloon number.

I will be releasing the balloons at another fundraising event being organised by our friend, Sophie on Sunday 15th September.  It is a cream tea, with cake and book sale, bouncy castle and fun things.  If you would like to come I'd love to sell you a balloon there and you can release it yourself.  Otherwise you can buy one here, they are £2 each.  See Mummy's Fabulous 40 Facebook page for the details.

Because you will be in receipt of a balloon and entry to the race, please DO NOT add gift aid in this instance.

Thank you, good luck.

Love William.
