Finally, Richard doesn't have an excuse (previously claiming that he was too busy "IN" the office) for him not to join the 2013 Futures for Kids Walk to Work ! So, somehow persuading Chrissie to join him on the day - we have signed up and donned our trainers !
Many of you will know that Richard has the priviledge of being a Trustee for Futures for Kids - a charity formed by his good friend Bill Templer some 5 years ago now - for those in and around the Futures Industry to raise money in support of a wide range of children's charities. To date they have raised over £1.6 million, yes million!
Two years ago the "Walk to Work" was conceived ... a 35 mile walk into the City, originally from Tunbridge Wells, raising some £48k in the first year. Last year there were 4 routes from different directions all ending up together in Paternoster Square next to St Pauls Cathedral, raising over £72k.
This year our collective target is to raise £100k !
So, finally and belatedly we have started training ! It's now a week on Friday, ominously Friday the 13th, that we will set out at 6am with some hearty colleagues from the industry to walk the 35 miles from Guildford to St Pauls !
So we have to get a move on and beg you all to dig deep if you will and sponsor us for our pains ! It really does not matter how much or how little you can afford, every penny raised goes direct to some of the most worthwhile children's causes both in UK and across the world !
