Story
Hello!
Since the last time I begged for sponsorship to run anywhere - Edinburgh Marathon 2009 - my knees decided that an overweight thirty-something-year-old should not be doing such things and have screamed at me to stop. So I did. On and off. For a bit.
In October 2012, thousands of runners took to the streets to run the Great Birmingham Run. I was supporting, armed with hundreds of jelly babies and a mental list of all the people I knew were running. One of these was Kevin Paterson, a friend from university who I didn't see much of these days, but thanks to Facebook and the occasional chance meeting, we'd stayed loosely in touch.
Sadly, Kev lost his life shortly after crossing the finish line in 2012, and within 24 hours of hearing the news, my mind was made up that I'd have one last shot at this lark in his honour. So, two MRIs and countless physio sessions later, I'll be lining up on October 20th alongside a team of Kev's family and friends to remember a great personality and to raise both money and awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Please make all the effort that everyone's putting in worthwhile by digging deep to sponsor us on October 20th - it means a lot to so many people.
