We provide life-saving heart surgery to children from developing countries

Story

On 29th September, to coincide with 'World Heart Day', and to keep the memory of our dear friend, Vanessa Garside, alive and well, a group of us are taking part in a 13km sponsored walk via heart-related roads and pubs in and around London.

It starts at the Heart Hospital, where Vanessa was treated, and ends at the White Hart in Bishopsgate. We will be wearing Hart to Hart-related outfits as she loved the TV show.

For those who didn't know her, Vanessa worked as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Not many people also knew that Vanessa had heart problems too, and she sadly died of heart failure in December last year.

With your help, we want to raise loads of money to support 'Chain of Hope', an amazing charity that was very close to Vanessa's heart. She took part in a number of missions to Jamaica as part of the medical team treating children with life-threatening heart disease. You can find out all about their superb work by following the links on this page and on Twitter @hearttohartwalk

Our aim is to raise approximately £2,500 to help set up a training scholarship in Vanessa's name, so please donate as much or as little as you can to help this worthy cause. You can donate via http://www.justgiving.com/Hearttohart or http://www.justgiving.com/remember/81480/Vanessa-Garside

Thanks for your support and to get you in the mood, watch this http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MfI-gRQ7phc&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DMfI-gRQ7phc

Max says in the opening credits something that sums up Vanessa: "What a terrific lady"
