Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm swimming a mile down the Thames with friends to raise funds for Ambitious about Autism. My son, now six, has autism - you can see him in the photo, which was taken before he was diagnosed, in the garden at home. He has picked some flowers and is twiddling them in his hands: we didn't realise at the time that this kind of repetitive play is a classic symptom of autism.

Twenty years ago, we might have been told our son was ineducable. Now he is at mainstream school and learning to read and write. Today he had his first playdate. Attitudes to autism have changed enormously in recent years and Ambitious about Autism does brilliant work to raise awareness, support families and help children like my son reach their potential.
