I have taken on the challenge of 'Survive the Yomp' and made a promise the The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) to raise £2500, making a valuable contribution towards the goal of raising £1million by 2014 for Royal Marines in need.

What better way to show our respect and appreciation for those that risk injury and death on behalf of their country?

What is Survive The Yomp?

The Yomp is a gruelling 30-mile hike across rough terrain all Royal Marines have to complete as the final test before they earn their green beret. This is no 'walk in the park'!

This challenge will mirror the final training exercise across rugged and remote terrain around historic Achnacarry Castle and Spean Bridge in Scotland - Commandos have trained here since World War II.

On 14th September 2013 I am committed to not just 'surviving the yomp' but making a valuable contribution towards the, much needed, fundraising aspirations of Commando Spirit and the RMCTF.

Why the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund?

The RMCTF helps Royal Marines and their families when they need it most. They aid the wounded and injured. They give quality of life to those returning from operations. And when the worst happens, they support the families of those who die in service. The RMCTF has the widest purposes of almost any service charity - the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund will help when others cannot.

What is the Commando Spirit Series?

The Commando Spirit Series of events offers a unique experience to test your mettle and gain a rare and privileged insight into what it means to be a Royal Marines Commando. The events will pit participants against some of the most formidable aspects of the Commando training, stretch them to achieve their fundraising commitment and provide them with a former or serving Royal Marine who will provide motivation and encouragement when the going gets tough.
