Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to cycle over 300 miles from Malle, Belgium to Hartley Wintney, North Hampshire the twin town, from 22 - 26th Aug.  That's about 80 miles a day.  Why? You might ask.  Well it's certainly not for the saddle sore and camping - but it is for three worthwhile causes for which are important to me:

1.  The Matthew Eldridge Trust. A charity supporting suicide prevention and mental illness, especially for young people.  This is an almost taboo topic but one which sadly is affecting an increasing number of teenagers and young adults in our high pressure society.

2.  St Michaels Hospice, Basingstoke.  Caring for patients throughout North Hampshire who are affected by a life-limiting illness. This care is provided both within the Hospice and out in the community in patients’ homes.  All the Hospice services are geared to helping people live life to the full and to ensure that their quality of life is the best it can be.

3. St John’s Church, Hartley Wintney, Building Fund: The Victorian Church in centre of the village has no kitchen, children’s facilities, rooms for any activities, clubs and events for the village and church life.  The fantastic building project is providing all this and more – an incredible building for the whole village area and a legacy for many decades to come.

About the charity

St John's Church is the parish church in the Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney. In April 2012, the church commenced the building of a new £2.3m Church Centre, which, when completed in June 2013, will provide new facilities for our church and wider community. Please help us to raise the final 20%.
