Story

Thank you for visiting my Shine fundraising page in support of brain cancer research. Hopefully you’re here to sponsor me, and anything you can give will be gratefully received – it’s quick, easy and totally secure.

Some of my family and friends have suffered at the hands of cancer over the years – skin, lung, stomach come immediately to mind but, as some of you may know, my mum passed away six years ago with an untreatable brain tumour – so I’ve decided to aim my sponsorship at brain tumours in particular.

Every year around 9,100 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour. But they can sometimes be hard to treat and around 4,900 people lose their life to the disease every year.  The good news is that, in children, brain tumour survival has almost doubled since the late 1960’s.  But unfortunately less progress has been seen in adults.  Cancer Research UK is a major funder of brain tumour research in the UK and this is where my sponsorship will go.

Every pound you donate really does make a difference towards the work into diagnosing and treating brain tumours – so please sponsor me now, no amount is too small.

Gift Aid it too! If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.

Thankyou again for your consideration and donation.
