Story
Hi everyone,
By now most of you are well aware that I am the very proud owner of a pink car and take part in the annual pink car rallies raising money to provide children suffering with cancer REAL hair wigs to help them through their treatment.
The Little Princess Trust has always been very close to mine and Nadine's hearts but last year the trust became a huge part of our lives.
Some of you may already know Nadine's story but for those of you who don't.......
Nadine is my younger sister and last July we received the devastating news that at 22 years old and 26 weeks pregnant Nadine had hodgkin lymphoma. A type of cancer that attacks your lymph nodes. To cut a very long and horrible story short, Nadine's baby (Blake) had to be born 6 weeks early in order for Nadine to start chemo and he spent time on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Nottingham City Hospital. Nadine then found out her cancer had spread to the lymph nodes of her neck, chest and spleen.
Nadine did very well and didn't loose her hair until her 7th chemo session but loosing her hair weighed heavily on her mind. The pink car rally organiser Sali Gray (an amazing woman) contacted the little princess trust on our behalf and as we had done alot of fundraising for them in the past they bent a few rules and were able to provide Nadine with her very own REAL hair wig!
Not only did it help Nadine but friends Nadine made through chemo also borrowed the wig to attend parties and events.
This year will also see us take part in the rally in memory of a very special pinkie- SHAYLEE MAY. Shaylee- may was my much loved Pink Toyota Yaris. On the way to last years rally myself, shaylee and my new pinkie co driver Sally were involved in a horrible motorway collison. We became the ball in a horrific game of pinball finding ourselves bouncing off a lorry and the centeral reservation. Sally and I walked away with a few cuts and brusies but my faithful and beloved Shaylee did not. Shaylee is now in car heaven and is sadly missed but Sally and I owe our lives to Shaylee for keeping us safe and keeping us alive.
