Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please support my fundraising effort as I travel England's highways...
Last year my club, Witley MCC, saw the loss of Alec Jay, veteran of many National Rallies from the 1960s onwards; of Betty Prior, enthusiastic National Rally pillion rider with Derek on many occasions; and of John Martin, who had lost his wife Pat only the previous year – both to cancer.
So, this year, I would like to raise some money for the Sam Beare Hospice at Weybridge where Alec was so well cared for.
As usual, the Witley MCC team of three, consisting of Dave Kavanagh (BMW), Gordon Ayshford (Suzuki) and myself (Kawasaki), will be taking part in the 2013 National Road Rally, jointly organised by the ACU and the BMF.
Participants ride for 540 miles from a starting point selected from a menu of around 60 towns across England, visiting 20 of the others before arriving at a chosen finishing control. Starting at 12 noon on Saturday July 6th, all riders must be finished before 8.00am on Sunday 7th. Then it’s time for breakfast and the ride home!
So spare me a thought as you settle down for the night on Saturday 6th – I’ll probably be halfway up a winding pass in the Pennines!
And as I remember my friends, please help me to contribute in some small way towards caring for those in the advanced stages of cancer.
