On June 16th, together with a few friends Jon, Richard and Guy, aka 'Team Pitch', I completed the Deloitte Ride Across Britain. after 9 days  and 982 miles 40 packets of jelly babies, 36 bananas and numerous choc bars each we achieved our goal of cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End...and we were CAMPING!

Each of us has selected a charity to support.  I have chosen Cancer Research UK, the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research into more than 200 types of the disease. Thanks to support from the public, this work has saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat  cancer.

Britain is beautiful but hilly, so this was tough! A total of 15000m had to be climbed, apparently the equivalent of cycling up Alpe d'Huez 13 times and 110 miles per day!

Given that until recently I had never ridden 100 miles in one day before, let alone done it 9 days in a row, this was tortuous, and on occasions we all had to dig very deep thru pain and fatigue to get to the finish line each day. The training paid off an helped me get thru it, I lost loads of weight having burnt 7000+ calories a day.
