Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you know my Husband Ian has had Kidney Cancer for the past 9 years first having one Kidney removed then 9 years later September 2011 a partial kidney removed,

As some of you remember Tom Sheehy and Myself walked Ben Nevis in the October for Cancer Research raising over £1000,

In November 2012 we found out Ian had Cancer again Secondery Kidney Cancer, this time it has spread through his body,

After many test we had the devastating news that this time its terminal

Ian is under Christies Hospital in Manchester, we have spent the last 3 mths there as Ian has been having treatment called Interlukan2, we are hoping this will reduce the tumours, the treatment is the worst thing I have seen someone go through its like going to hell and back, but there are successes for us to hold on to

Whilst Ian was going through this treatment he was on ward 11, the nursing  staff on this ward go way way above and beyond their role, my husband  went through rigors every 8 hrs whilst on a drip with the treatment, these last for about an hour the team have to try to bring them out of this with pethadene on one occasion they had to bring the outreach team out for Ian has he lost all his vitals during this time he also hallucinates

the nurses never leave Ian's side taking his stats every hour and this can go on for 5 days 24hrs a day with a 7 day rest then the same treatment again, as you can imagine this is a seriously tough time for Ian, myself our amazing boys, family and close friends, the nurses are there to support us all through those tough days, they are all including the care assistants caring, loving and so supportive, it blows your mind just how much dedication they have

We see Proff Hawkins on the 13th May to see if the treatment has worked

Christie Hospital is a charity hospital, the work they do is just immense, They care, They discover, They Teach

Mike Makinson who works with Tom and Myself at Smiths News approached us about doing the Charity Bike ride for Christies as over the last few years all 3 of us have within our family dealt with this terrible disease

In the last few weeks Steve Benson who also works with me at Smiths News Stockport has found out his Queen as he calls his Mum also has terminal cancer and is under Christies

This hospital need all the support they can to be able to carry on there good work of saving lives or the amazing pallative care they give to terminally ill patients like my husband

I cannot give the time to train for this event with nursing Ian so Mike and Tom are going to do the race and I am going to be the training support and the vehicle support on the day,

My main part in this team is to raise the awareness of the event for a great hospital and to ask you all to sponsor our team to raise over a £1000

Thank You so much for all your support

Take care
