We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Just before Christmas we had the devastating news that Abby who is only 9 has a rare type of bone cancer.  I am raising money and awareness of this terrible disease by supporting CLIC Sargent and meeting this personal challenge of a tandem skydive.

As soon as Abby was diagnosed she was immediatey into a gruelling schedule of chemotherapy which means she is in hospital most of the time only coming home for short breaks between treatment.

The cancer was located in her knee and it damaged her bone beyond repair therefore she had to undergo limb salvage surgery last week (mid March) to replace the bone and her knee.  That is a lot for a little 9 year old to deal with.

Following surgery Abby will again go through 15 cycles of intensive chemotherapy to give her the best chance possible of the cancer never returning.

CLIC Sargent have supported Abby both medically and emotionally throughout her journey so far and us as a family.  It has meant a huge change in our lives as we live with this terrible disease.

Abby is doing well but we still have a long journey ahead of us and sponsoring me for meeting this sky dive challenge will raise money that will support families like ours.

CLIC provide specialist nursing care, they helped us with a small grant as the financial impact of living with cancer is immense, they provide accommodation close to the hospital where Cath and I have used in order to be near Abby during treatment.  Later this year we are hoping to have a weekend break with Abby at one of the CLIC holiday homes to give Abby a change of scenery as we wont be able to have a normal family summer holiday this year.

Abby is one of 10 children per day who are told they have cancer.  It is utterly devastating yet CLIC are there to help the families to cope and deal with the road ahead.

A huge thank you from me for your interest in our story and for your generous donation to this worthwhile cause.  Without your support in this way we wouldn't have the support which we have been offered in order to make life as easy as possible for Abby.

THANK YOU.
