Story

Fancy doing something simple and good to help me and help those with cancer? Please sponsor my 10k run on my birthday

This will be my third year of running and the challenge this year is hills and a sub one hour run! Two Castles is a hilly 10k run from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle taking place on my 26th Birthday on the 9th June 2013.

Please donate via my JustGiving page or text CAUW10 and either £5, £10 or £20 to 70070.

Cancer at Warwick

Universities conduct a huge amount of cancer research. They have the expertise and facilities to do this and some projects are funded by the larger cancer charities. Warwick University is in an ideal position to do this reasearch due to the excellence and links between Warwick Medical School and University Hospital Coventry. This means the research has a direct and practical link to those being treated.

Your donation will go directly towards the cancer research taking place here at Warwick. Some of the research taking place unfortunately is not able to be funded by the major cancer charities and your donations are vital to this research taking place.

Projects include:

- Research into the issues that affect cancer sufferers every day such as preventing hair loss

- Targeting the cell changes that cause cancer

- Improving the quality of detection and creating less invasive techniques

Please visit www.warwick.ac.uk/cancerresearch for more information.

My story

As many of you know from my past few years of fundraising, like many people, I have a very close personal link to cancer. I lost my Mum to cancer when she was 55 and I was 22 and I still feel there’s so much we should have done together. She faced it bravely but late detection meant it wasn’t possible to cure.

Your donations will help to save more lives, give more time to families and help to make the illness that bit more bearable for those that are fighting it.

Donations will help to fund more research to prevent cancer affecting and taking more of the people we know and love, they help to protect ourselves from cancer in the future and also to improve the quality of life for those that are facing this illness.

A 10k run is nothing compared to what those with cancer face every day. Anything you can give to help prevent, treat and make the lives of those living with cancer that bit better will help take us one more step on the way to finding a cure.

If you were kind enough to think of getting me a birthday present this year, I'd really like if instead if you could give a donation instead to cancer at Warwick. It  really would mean a great deal to me.

Please if you can, make a donation to help cancer research at Warwick today.

On campus and race day

If you see any of the six of us running around campus, please give us your support!

We’d love to see as many of you as we can on the race course to cheer us on!
