Please sponsor me for the Outlaw half ironman (1.2m swim, 56m bike ride, 13.1m run) in memory of Chris Bygate - a full Ironman and good mate who tragically died last year after a fall in the Lake District. I got to know Chris about five years ago when we worked together and couldn't help but like the guy as he was always a sound bloke to talk something over with, but wouldn't let this get in the way of his dead pan and inspired sense of humour.

When I first started running last year, Chris was the encouraging voice, knowing that it would come together with time and effort. This spirit is what made me sign up for the half Ironman, with the rest of Team Bygate (there's about a dozen individuals and 5 relay teams) but it will still be quite a challenge for me. I've done one half marathon in my life, 56miles on a bike previously equated to a long day out and multiple pub stops, and swimming has always been a means to keep breathing when in water rather than a way of covering distance. However, Chris has shown me that twice as far is possible, so please sponsor me in my challenging tribute to an athlete and a gent.
