Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A group of close friends and I will be taking on the challenge of cycling from Lands End to John O Groats in June 2013. We will be raising money by cycling approximately 1,000 miles starting on 2nd June and, if we don’t get lost along the way, finishing on 15th June.
My best friend's daughter Charlotte incredibly sadly passed away in February 2012, just days after her 23rd birthday. It is almost impossible to describe how remarkable Charlotte was. She fought her illness with the most incredible bravery, dignity and humour and always with a smile on her face. She faced up to the most traumatic of situations that life can throw at anyone, never mind someone so young. Please watch this touching video created and sung to beautifully by her lovely sister Verity (also my god-daughter, I'm proud to say!).
If there is just one word to describe Charlotte - it is clearly “inspirational”, as it was repeated so many times at her funeral last March attended by over 500 people, way too many for the church to hold. It is that inspiration that has encouraged us all to take on this demanding ride. Our objective is to honour her strength and determination and help raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) to enable them to give support to others who find themselves fighting the same fight.
The TCT is a charity that helps youngsters aged between 13 and 24 years who are diagnosed with cancer. Their aim is to offer young people at this sensitive and unique age the best care and support available, whilst also allowing them to be comfortable in surroundings appropriate to their age, and most importantly, to still be teenagers. The TCT’s objective is to be able to offer this support to all youngsters throughout the UK, wherever they live. As a charitable organisation, in the current economic climate, this is a big challenge.
The furthest I have ever cycled, also for TCT, was 37 miles back in June 2010 when Charlotte was already suffering, so you can imagine that this is no small commitment, but it has to be worth it to recognise Charlotte and TCT. Our aim is to raise over £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Charlotte. Please help us to help achieve or we hope exceed our goal - all donations are very welcome and much appreciated.
