Throughout 2013 BBC Radio Manchester will be raising money to help cancer patients at The Christie.

I’m throwing all my energy behind BBC Radio Manchester’s Million Pound appeal – mentally and physically - by taking part in the Greater  Manchester 10k run. And I’m delighted to say I won’t be alone. Listeners and colleagues are joining me to make up “Team Becky”, all of us running for the appeal.

Even some of my late lunchers have agreed to take part. And my 15-year-old son, Isaac, has chosen to run alongside me as well, inspired by the great work of the Christie. Which proves that whatever your age or physical fitness you can still do it - run, walk or crawl. But to make sure we reach the finishing line, Isaac and I are training together. With your help we aim to raise vital funds to benefit cancer patients in Manchester through a new mobile chemotherapy unit that will take Christie care closer to patients' homes. Each day the mobile chemotherapy unit will travel to different areas of the Greater Manchester region to deliver first class treatment, which will save precious time and travelling costs for around 80 patients a week.
