Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I first met Josh when he was 13 years old, being the youngest son of my good friends, Ray and Juliann Davies. He was your normal cheeky teenager and an extremely likeable young lad, who brought a smile to everyone he met.
On 05/10/2011, one month before his 18th birthday, Josh was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare form of soft tissue cancer. At this time, he was told he had a less than 20% chance of being cured and only 6-12 months to live if the treatment was unsuccessful.
Despite a brave fight, Josh sadly succumbed to his illness and passed away on 02/08/2012. During the most difficult of times, Josh never complained and showed amazing courage 'til the very end.
Upon gaining my marathon place, I told Ray I wished to run in memory of Josh and asked him to nominate a charity. Ray told me that the care and compassion shown by Pilgrims, not only to Josh, but to all who came in contact with them was outstanding. Josh trusted the doctors and nurses and it was the only real place he felt safe. He actually asked to go back to the hospice the day before he died.
This year Pilgrims Hospices needs to raise nearly £10 million and your support would be hugely appreciated. Pilgrims Hospices is an independent charity and relies on the generosity of its local communities to continue providing free palliative care and support to patients and their families coping with life-limiting illnesses.
So please dig deep and donate now. Its a great cause!!!
