Looking at my niece, Millie, you would think she was just your typical, happy and care-free 3 year old. Every day she is busy with puzzles, creating beautiful drawings, imagining wild and exciting adventures in normal daily activities. 

But in addition to these, she also has extra activities that you would not normally associate with a toddler. For example, she has to take enzymes with every meal to allow her to digest fats properly, she does physiotherapy a few times a day to help loosen the build up of mucus in her lungs and she often has to have regular visits to hospital. These are just a few of the extra activities that are required of her in order to combat the effects of suffering from cystic fibrosis.

Millie puts up with a lot, but she is helped and encouraged by a very loving set of parents and grandparents. In addition, the CF Trust have been a great source of help and support to Millie and my family. They do amazing and invaluable work supporting CF sufferers like Millie and their families, as well as driving important research into finding a cure.

To help give something back, my uncle, my dad and I have decided to have an adventure of our own and climb Mount Kilimanjaro - no small feat for a small team of 3 people with a combined age of over 150! We will be climbing to 19,341 feet in 9 days, hopefully reaching the summit on 18 September 2013.
