Hi everyone,

We do want to do a rather personal plea to ask for sponsorship for the First Base Day Centre because it really is such a worthy project with the backing of an extremely passionate team of staff.

First Base opens its doors at 8am each weekday morning to up to 60 people who have been sleeping rough the night before. Not only does First Base offer the basics such as a meal, shower, toiletry and clothes washing facilities but it also offers nursing, podiatry, dentistry, optometry, counselling, mental health, and first aid services. The staff at the project also support people in getting their lives back on track – with access to training, employment opportunities and life-skills support.

Being a dog lover we have to also mention that it’s not only people that are homeless, many of them have a 4 legged companion. Dogs are allowed on the premises and they provide dog biscuits and blankets as well as working closely with the Dogs Trust to ensure dogs receive vet services.

Last but not least, First Base is open all night when the temperature reaches 0 for three consecutive nights – and stays open until the temperature rises. Please guys can you imagine how cold that must be!! It is also open on Christmas day when we are all at home enjoying our Turkey with our families.

So what will your money do……..

£2 will pay for someone to have their clothes washed and dried
£5 will provide fresh milk for the day centre each day
£25 will pay towards the assessment and support plan to help someone move away from rough sleeping
£50 will provide a healthy and nutritious breakfast and lunch for 60 people

Your money will go straight to the project for them to support the homeless people directly.
