Story
In a moment of 100% clarity I decided to run the London Marathon 3 weeks before getting hitched- yup it really does seems a bit of a dramatic way to get beach ready for the honeymoon, so here is the real reason ………….
As you may well know in 2010 my dad passed away from Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), not a cancer in itself, but often a predecessor to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and back when I was only very small we lost my lovely mum to Breast Cancer. Running the marathon in their honour is our way of showing that they are very much still in my heart in the run up to mine and Ben's big day and beyond- also I think they might have been pretty surprised/amused/proud to see this (delete as appropriate).
Macmillan is a fantastic charity that aims to support everyone affected by any form of cancer- both those diagnosed with cancer and family and friends of those diagnosed. We used Macmillan services during muy Dad's illness to find realistic information and support and this seemed an ideal why to say thank you and hopefully help them continue to deliver such incredible and essential service.
Please dig deep- it is an amazing cause, worth every rainy training session, but I am are pretty sure it isn’t going to be easy!
FYI- if you see a 3 pound donation via text- that’s me missing a training session- don’t judge its cold!
