Story

I'm taking part in the inaugural Tunnel 2 Towers run in central London on 21st October. The event is inspired by the FDNY Tunnel to Towers run which was set up by the Steven Siller foundation following 9/11.

It's a 5km run, however running is too easy! Instead I'll be part of the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band who will be marching and playing the whole way around the route. 5k might not seem very far, but in full uniform and playing marches at 120bpm it's going to be about an hour of hard graft!

The UK event finishes in the shadows of Canary Wharf Tower in London's Docklands, where there's a big street party. If the band is still in one piece then we'll be playing at that too!

All of the money I raise will be going to the UK Fire Fighters Charity who look after serving and retired firefighters and their families. They provide services such as physiotherapy and psychological support through three rehabilitation and recuperation centers in Devon, Cumbria and West Sussex.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
