I am involved in Armpits4August - a new campaign that is raising money for Verity (the PCOS charity) whilst encouraging discussion around our attitudes to body hair and promoting self-acceptance and freedom of choice.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) affects 5-10% of women in the UK and millions around the world. Essentially it is down to hormonal imbalences, which can cause excessive hair growth, weight gain, mood swings and issues with fertility. Verity work with women with PCOS whilst supporting research into this uncurable, little known condition.

I am not shaving my armpit hair throughout August, not only to be sponsored and to raise money, but also to try something new. I have been shaving since I was 13 and I would like to try not shaving, whilst being part of a campaign that offers support and guidance.
