Story

I have a friend called James Dowen. Unfortunately his father was recently taken ill with pancreatic cancer.  In response to this the Dowens have established a charitable fund called "Pete's pancreas project" which is aiming to raise £150,000 to fund an MD thesis researching the causes of a rare form of pancreatic cancer.

Pete's Pancreas Project is the fundraising effort to finance some research to help people in a similar situation. "The Dowen Trust Fund" has been set up at The Hepatobiliary Unit, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Pete's pancreas project has formed a team of runners who are mad enough to take part in the Tough Mudders event on Saturday 12th May in Northamptonshire.

About the charity

Newcastle Hospitals Charity is the official Charity of Newcastle Hospitals. Home of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Great North Children's Hospital Foundation and Charlie Bear for Cancer Care, we help our hospitals go further by making a positive difference for our patients, staff and communities
