We support Royal Marines and their familes to overcome their challenges

Story

I have taken on the dual challenge of fundraising for our Royal Marines in need and Taking The Leap - an eye-watering fast rope abseil from the listed roof of St Pancras station mirroring the arduous training all Royal Marines face to gain their green beret.

So what will I be doing?

On 14th September 2012?

Well, I will be trained at the RMR London and then I will be trussed up into a harness and required to climb up into the roof space and fast rope abseil to floor below, watched by no doubt terrified supporters, using the correct procedure. The least you can do is sponsor me!

Also;

On 17 November 2012,

"ABERDEEN THAI BOXERS JOIN FORCES TO SUPPORT ROYAL MARINES"

Aberdeen's Thai Boxing community is to join forces to raise money for Royal Marines Charity    "Commando Spirit".

November 17th at the AECC will see Aberdeen's Elite Thai Boxers join forces to stage an International Thai Boxing Event to support fundraising  for Scotland's Elite Fighting Men of the Royal Marines.

Led by the Aberdeen Muaythai Group, boxers from all the current Thai Boxing Clubs will be participating in this International event.

Fighters, Keith Middleton, Jamie MacRae, Chris Moir, Scott Morrison, Craig Dick, Trevor Lawn, Paul Hosie and veteran fighter Tommy McCarthy  will compete to help raise as much money as they can for the Elite fighting men.

Commando Spirit has set the bar very high as it attempts to raise £1m by 2014.

Tommy, an ex-martial arts champion, will train with Royal Marines at RMR London before taking on the fast rope abseil. Flying the flag for Aberdeen, Tommy has committed to raise more than £20,000 in order to take part in this unique challenge.

We need your help, please donate what you can, click the link below to read more about the challenge and make your donation, also PLEASE help by sending on this email to anyone you think could help by donating. All money donated will go directly to Commando Spirit Royal Marines Charity.

So why the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund?

The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund helps Royal Marines and their families when they need it most. They aid the wounded and injured. They give quality of life to those returning from operations. And when the worst happens, they support the families of those who die in service. The RMCTF has the widest purposes of almost any service charity - quite simply, the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund will help when others cannot.

What is the Commando Spirit Series?

The Commando Spirit Series of events offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences to test your mettle and gain a rare and privileged insight into what it means to be a Royal Marines Commando today. The events will pit participants against some of the most formidable aspects of the Commando training, stretch them to achieve their fundraising commitment of £10,000 each and buddy them up with a former or serving Royal Marine who will provide motivation and encouragement when the going gets tough. If you have what it takes  - you can do this and if you would like to please contact me or email info@commandospirit.com

What is Take The Leap?

Take the Leap, set to take place in Autumn 2012, will offer an elite group of 40 civilian participants the chance to feel what it’s like to abseil out of helicopters and off buildings and take on Royal Marines fast rope abseil training putting their new skills into practice by abseiling from the roof of St Pancras station on 14 September or into Twickenham rugby ground on 5 October.
