A group of 12 QinetiQ employees based in Malvern are cycling 150 miles from Worth Matravers in Dorset back to Malvern to raise money for Help for Heroes. We're doing this on 23rd and 24th May 2012 to mark the 70th anniversary of radar research being moved from Dorset to Malvern.
You can track our progress (updated every 2 minutes) by following this link http://bushman.qinetiq.com/ (note google earth plugin required).
The development of radar was one of the most significant technological developments made during World War II. The work of a handful of brilliant scientists and engineers back then played a pivotal role in equipping and supporting our service personnel carry out their brave and vital roles.
Here is a useful website detailing these early radar developements :http://www.purbeckradar.org.uk/purbeck/story.htm
Our ride marks an historic event, a significant one for the town of Malvern as the start of its association with defence technology which continues to this day. At QinetiQ we remain proud of the support that we provide to our Armed Forces on the front line. And by undertaking this ride, we hope we can help improve the lives of some of our brave service personnel wounded in action.
