Story

Did you know...

One in every 1000 babies is born with Down's syndrome.

Down's syndrome is a lifelong condition. People with Down's syndrome all have some degree of learning disability, and an increased risk of some health problems. However, everyone with Down's syndrome is different, and Down's syndrome is only a part of who they are.

Dad Akhtar comments "As an excited new parent when you are told that your child has Down's Syndrome was a shock to family at first. It was the unexpectation of what the future hold for our son Ayyub was of more shock and disturbing. Seeing him kiss us every moment, giving us that long loving hug, that question when he comes from school. Where is dad? Its all worth it."

Akhtar says "So far so good. Now we as a family and group of our friends who are affected and linked by Down's Syndrome are getting together to raise funds for our local Down's Syndrome Support group."

What your donation will provide for:

- It would pay for 6 months of swimming at £80 per month.

- It would pay for 12 months of Going Out Club activities at £40 per month, eg bowling, disco.

- It would pay for 2 Down's syndrome learning support packs for new families.

- It would pay for trips to the Zoo or Blackpool and on average 30 families, about 100+ people attend.

- It would pay for trips to Ponderosa farm and Harewood house which costs about £280.

- Last of all it would pay for the Down's Syndrome children to be happy and be accepted for who they are.
